The School of International Cultural Exchange of Beijing International Studies University is mainly responsible for the carrying out of Chinese courses teaching. It is a special school that enrolls and teaches foreign students. The School of International Cultural Exchange of Beijing International Studies University provides the specialty of Chinese (including tourism route and finance route) for undergraduate program and also Chinese-Language learner programs. The School of International Cultural Exchange of Beijing International Studies University is among the first batch of organizations that are authorized to hold the HSK Exam in Beijing. The HSK Exam is held three times annually in May, July and December.

Qualifications for Admission
A. Matriculation terms for non-Chinese-major undergraduate
- in the age bracket of 18-50 with good health
- holding senior high school graduation diploma at least (presentation of the latest diploma, academic record and two pictures are required)
- holding certificate of HSK Level 6 or above (Chinese-Language undergraduate doesn’t need)
- passing the major test and oral Chinese interview held by the applied department
- application deadline: May 31
B. Matriculation terms for non-Chinese-Language postgraduate
- under the age of 50 with good health, holding undergraduate diploma
- documents submission: resume, Beijing International Studies University Application Form, degree certificate and diploma (presentation of the original documents is required upon registration), university script of academic record, certificate of HSK Level 7 or above, two reference letters, photocopy of passport or residence permit.
- application deadline: May 31
C. Application for Refresher and Advanced Refresher Program
1. under the age of 60 with good health, holding senior high school graduation diploma at least
2. documents submission: resume, Beijing International Studies University Application Form, photocopy of the diploma (the original document is required to be submitted upon registration and for currently enrolled senior high school students, the enrollment certificate from the school is required), the script of school academic record, and photocopy of HSK Level 3 above Certificate (Chinese-Language undergraduate doesn’t need)
additional documents for advanced refresher program, the copies of undergraduate above diploma and academic record are required
applicants who are learning in other Chinese universities should also provide :
- a sealed transfer letter from the International Students’ Office of the university
- a copy of his/her visa in China
- a recommendation letter from the class teacher
3. application deadline: June 30
D. Application for Short-term Program
- age from 18 to 60 with good health
- time: summer vacation annually
- documents submission: resume, Beijing International Studies University Application Form. photocopy of passport

Information for Prospective Students
1. Prospective students are supposed to register in Room 308, Teaching Building No.2 (School of International Cultural Exchange) on Feb 22nd and 23rd.
Registration hour: 8:30 am--11:30 am, 2:00pm--4:00pm
The followings should be submitted on registration:
Jw202 Form, Admission Notice, Passport, Four passport-size-photos, Original Physical Examination Form (inclusive of Original Blood Test Report), Insurance Paper.
2. There will be an Opening Ceremony after registration. Placement Examinations will be held after the Opening Ceremony on the third floor of School of International Cultural Exchange to fix the level and class. Prospective students who have never studied Chinese before, or want to learn from the basic level, do not need to take the test and just register their names in the School of International Cultural Exchange (Room 308, Teaching Building No.2).
3. The student, applying for X Visa and took physical examinations before entering China, should keep the original Physical Examination Records (inclusive of original blood test report), checked by Beijing Health Center to make sure all the items on the forms are complete, otherwise the student will have to take physical examination again at their own expense at Beijing health center. The student will pay RMB60yuan for getting the certificate issued by Beijing Health Center if all the items are complete.
4. The student who applied for X Visa, but did not take physical examination prior to entering China must take physical examinations at Beijing Health Center. It costs about RMB400 yuan.
5. Prospective students will be organized to go to Beijing Health Center. The time will be subject to further notice.
The followings should be taken when students go to Beijing Health Center:
Passport, Original Physical Examination Forms (inclusive of Original Blood Test Report), two Passport-size photos, RMB400yuan
6. Student holding F Visa does not need to take physical examination or apply for Foreigner’s Residence Permit. But the student holding X visa should apply for Foreigner’s Residence Permit within 30 days after entering China, otherwise the student will be fined RMB¥500 per day.
7. International Exchange and Cooperation Office can make residence permit for international students at their own expense. The fee of Residence Permit is RMB400yuan per person; service charge is RMB40yuan per person.
8. According to the principle of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, all the international students should purchase medical insurance. International students who have bought insurance in the home country before entering China should present it on registration. International students who have not purchased insurance in the home country should buy insurance when they enroll at Beijing International Studies University. 9. Students who don’t pay all tuition and accommodation fees within 10 days after registration will pay 5% overdue fine. No fees will get refunded if the students quit the university for which the application has been admitted.
